"I love photos. For what they capture, for what they evoke, for what they can mean."

LYDIA
Hey! So lovely that you're here. I am Lydia – the face behind and the proud owner of LYD. Photography. What started as a hobby has now grown into a business that I stand behind with all my heart.
Who am I? I would say that I am creative, observant, curious, and a tad (too) nostalgic. :) I try to run twice a week and am into baking sourdough bread, and that has been going pretty well lately. I have been married to my sweet husband for 3 years now. I love our lovely little house close to Leiden (NL), our cat Simba, a beautiful sunset, the sound of the sea (which is closeby!), fine dining, a good glass red wine, a deep conversation late at night, and of course, photos. For what they capture, of what they evoke, for what they can mean.
And why is taking photos such a theme in my life? I lived abroad for many years, including in Belgium, Burkina Faso, and Germany. Living in all these places in a relatively short period of time has given photos an extra dimension for me: my memories captured.
I can still look at photos from all these times in my life for hours. It takes me right back to people, moments and places. That feeling and that experience is exactly what I want to give others with my work.
In addition to being a photographer, I work part-time at the Salvation Army as a behavioral scientist with families where safety often plays a major role. I am grateful that I can combine this with my photography.
Over the years, I have photographed over 40 weddings. I have had the privilege of meeting so many people and capturing their most intimate moments. It has been an enriching journey so far, and I am proud of a business in which I can express so much of myself. I love being a professional photographer, and I look forward to everything that is yet to come!
